Skenda Jean-Charles

Skenda hails from sunny Miami, Florida and is currently a third year medical student. She concentrated in Public Health and conducted global health research at a neonatal intensive care unit in Haiti as an undergraduate at Brown University. During her time in medical school, Skenda has been involved in developing educational materials on best practices in conducting a compassionate, inclusive, and trauma-informed sexual history for physicians and the role of infection in maternal and infant mortality amongst Black women living in the United States. She is passionate about uncovering and addressing health disparities in a range of care outcomes, particularly surgical outcomes, in both a national and global context. 


Outside of medicine, she danced for nine years and continues to incorporate mindful movement in her life through yoga. She also enjoys running, reading, and caring for her growing houseplant collection.
