Krissia Rivera Perla

Originally from El Salvador, she grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. Growing up, she witnessed many disparities in access to healthcare in particular for undocumented immigrants. These experiences laid the foundation for her future interest in medicine as an undergraduate at Brown University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology (Cell and Molecular) in 2015 and continued on to work for the Brain Injury Outcomes (BIOS) research division at Johns Hopkins Department of Neurology prior to starting medical school in 2017. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Health in Quantitative Methods at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health between her 3rd and 4th year of medical school where she is in the combined M.D-ScM Population Medicine program. Her Population Medicine master’s thesis focuses on the impact of neighborhood disadvantage on glioblastoma outcomes. Her research interests include health services research in care delivery and surgical outcomes.
