Giancarlo was born and raised in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. He majored in neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 2016. During his gap years, Giancarlo worked in healthcare/life sciences consulting, volunteered at a children’s hospital, and gave SAT classes to Puerto Rican high school students. At Brown, Giancarlo has been an active advocate for the Latinx medical student population serving as the 2020-2021 president of Brown's Latino Medical Student Association chapter and the medical student representative in Brown's Diversity and Inclusion Oversight Board. Outside of school, he enjoys both watching and playing sports, eating good food, and traveling.
